eSIM for Bali in 2026: prices, coverage and setup

Set up data before you arrive in Bali so Grab, Gojek and maps work when you leave Denpasar. Atli connects through Telkomsel and Indosat.

Bali is easy to navigate until the moment you need a ride from an unmarked villa lane. Maps, Gojek, Grab and boat messages make mobile data more useful here than the usual beach photos suggest. Atli’s Indonesia eSIM starts at $4.99, works in Bali through Indosat and Hutchison 3, and should be installed before the flight.

Atli is data-only. It does not include an Indonesian phone number, SMS or cellular calls. Your home SIM can keep its usual number, while WhatsApp, Telegram, ride apps and maps run over the Atli connection.

Atli eSIM prices for Bali

Bali uses the Indonesia destination in the Atli chat. These prices were checked on September 1, 2026.

3 GB30 days$7.99A week of ride apps and basic browsing
5 GB30 days$10.99A normal holiday with daily navigation
10 GB30 days$19.99A longer stay and regular photo uploads
20 GB30 days$36.99Work, streaming or frequent hotspot use
Unlimited5 days$16.99A short trip with heavy data use
Unlimited7 days$21.99A data-heavy week
Unlimited10 days$28.99Heavy use over a longer holiday
Unlimited15 days$40.99Two weeks of heavy use
Unlimited30 days$67.99A month without tracking each gigabyte

There are also unlimited options for 20 and 25 days. Check the plan displayed in WhatsApp or Telegram before paying because prices can change.

The fixed plans are enough for most holidays. Bali’s everyday travel apps do not use much data by themselves. Video calls, automatic photo backup and a laptop hotspot are what push a trip toward 20 GB or unlimited.

Which networks does Atli use in Bali?

Atli uses Indosat and Hutchison 3, with LTE and 5G access where supported. The two brands now sit under Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, but Atli reaches them as two separate networks.

The phone normally handles network selection automatically. Do not assume that having two listed partners means it will constantly jump to whichever signal looks strongest. The roaming profile, available network and location decide what it can use.

The practical pattern is familiar to anyone who has crossed Bali by road. The built-up south has more infrastructure and more congestion. Mountain roads, the north coast and stretches between villages can be less predictable. Signal also comes and goes on fast boats. That is a reason to download a map and screenshot a ticket, not evidence that the eSIM has failed.

Indosat publishes coverage tools for its IM3 and Tri networks. Treat the map as an estimate. Buildings, terrain, crowding and the phone itself still affect reception.

How much data does a Bali trip need?

A week of maps, messages and ride bookings can fit comfortably inside 3 GB. Five gigabytes gives more breathing room. The plan grows quickly when “working from Bali” includes a real workday.

A short holiday can fit inside 1 to 3 GB when the phone is mostly handling maps, messages, rides and bookings. Five to 10 GB suits one or two weeks with social media and internet calls. Remote work is different. If the phone will feed a laptop through hotspot, look at 20 GB or unlimited data.

Cafe and villa WiFi can be excellent, mediocre or absent for twenty minutes at exactly the wrong time. A hotspot is useful backup, but the laptop can drain a small plan through updates and syncing before you notice. Pause those jobs or restrict them to trusted WiFi.

The guide to how much data a trip uses has estimates for maps, messaging, music and video. If you already know you will work from the island, size the plan around video meetings rather than Gojek.

Indonesia plan or regional plan?

Atli’s Southeast Asia and Oceania plan covers Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Indonesia-only is cheaper from 1 GB through 10 GB. At 20 GB, the result flips.

30-day allowanceIndonesia planRegional plan
5 GB$10.99$15.99
10 GB$19.99$20.99
20 GB$36.99$28.99

The 20 GB regional plan costs $8 less and covers all eight destinations. It is the better choice even if Bali is the only confirmed stop. At every unlimited duration, however, the Indonesia plan costs less than the matching regional plan.

The country plan is not automatically the cheaper one. See how regional eSIM plans work if the trip continues to Singapore, Thailand or Australia.

Travel eSIM or local Indonesian prepaid SIM?

Atli suits a short visit when data needs to be ready before the airport ride. A local prepaid SIM may suit a longer stay or someone who needs an Indonesian number for ordinary calls and SMS.

The trade is time and convenience. A local product has to be bought and set up after arrival; Atli can be installed at home. For a wider comparison, read eSIM vs airport SIM vs pocket WiFi.

Install before you arrive

The destination name to send Atli is Indonesia, not Bali. Installing the eSIM does not start the plan. It starts on the first network connection at the destination. You have up to 30 days after purchase to make that connection; after that, the plan starts automatically.

  1. Open Atli in WhatsApp or Telegram and send Indonesia.
  2. Choose the plan and pay in the chat.
  3. Install the eSIM while you still have reliable WiFi.
  4. When you arrive, turn on the Atli line and select it for mobile data.
  5. Turn on data roaming for that line.

Your first Atli eSIM profile stays installed. When a plan expires, keep the profile. Another Indonesia plan or a plan for a different supported country is added to that same eSIM automatically.

Check that the phone supports eSIM and is unlocked before buying. It is easier to solve a carrier lock at home than at Ngurah Rai airport while trying to message a driver.

Airport rides, boats and offline copies

Data is most useful at the untidy edges of a 7-day Bali itinerary:

  • the airport pickup location changes after a message from the driver;
  • a villa pin sits down a lane that has no useful street sign;
  • a fast-boat operator sends the check-in point through WhatsApp;
  • the return ride from Uluwatu is being ordered at the same time as everyone else’s.

Keep the booking reference, address and pickup pin saved offline. A live connection helps, but it should not hold the only copy of a boat ticket.

The return ride from Uluwatu gets ordered at the same time as everyone else’s.

If you have not chosen a base yet, compare the actual map position rather than the neighbourhood name alone. Canggu, Uluwatu and Ubud can each turn a short-looking distance into a slow drive. Booking.com is useful here because you can check the property pin against the places you will visit before booking.

Your number, calls and messages

Atli is data-only. It does not include a phone number, cellular calls or SMS. WhatsApp, Telegram and other internet calling apps use the data connection and keep their existing registered numbers.

On a compatible dual-SIM phone, the two lines can do different jobs: your own number stays on your home SIM for calls and texts, and mobile data in Bali comes from your Atli eSIM.

On a dual-SIM phone, set Atli as the cellular-data line and keep your primary SIM active for calls and texts. Turn off data roaming on your primary SIM to avoid unintended roaming data charges. If your carrier supports roaming, verification texts can still arrive on your primary SIM.
