Price comparison

These prices were checked in US dollars on September 1, 2026. The 5 GB, 10 GB and 20 GB rows compare the same allowance and validity. The different validity on the 1 GB row is shown in the table.

USA planAtliTruelyDifference
1 GB$3.99 for 7 days$4.49 for 30 daysTruely costs $0.50 more and lasts longer
5 GB / 30 days$9.99$13.49Truely costs $3.50 more
10 GB / 30 days$15.99$19.49Truely costs $3.50 more
20 GB / 30 days$29.99$32.49Truely costs $2.50 more

Atli is cheaper on all four rows. The 1 GB comparison is the only one with different validity: Atli’s plan lasts seven days, while Truely’s lasts 30. Truely also sells a 300 MB plan for $1.99 with two-day validity, which can suit a quick connection test or a short layover.

Truely labels its fixed bundles “Pay per GB” in the checkout. They are prepaid allowances rather than a running meter. You choose 300 MB, 1 GB, 5 GB, 10 GB or 20 GB and pay the displayed amount. The 1 GB and larger plans have a “Never Expires” switch, but selecting that option changes the product and price. Compare the final total rather than assuming the standard 30-day price includes permanent validity.

Current Truely prices are available through its official United States plan page. Prices can change, so check the checkout before paying. If you are unsure which row fits, the guide to how much data you need for a trip has practical estimates for maps, messages, video and hotspot use.

Unlimited prices

Truely prices unlimited plans by the number of days. Atli does the same in destinations where unlimited plans are available.

Unlimited planAtli USATruely USA
5 days$13.99$21.97
7 days$19.99$31.39
15 days$39.99$53.51
30 days$64.99$78.74

Atli costs less at every duration above. The difference ranges from $7.98 for five days to $14.40 for 30 days.

The same Truely unlimited ladder currently applies to Turkey and Japan. Atli’s five-day unlimited plan costs $13.99 for Turkey and $16.99 for Japan, against $21.97 with Truely. For 30 days, Atli costs $64.99 in Turkey and $67.99 in Japan, against $78.74 with Truely.

Price alone does not make unlimited plans identical. Truely states its speed threshold in the checkout. Atli’s terms can vary by destination and local network, so check the plan shown in the chat before buying.

What Truely means by unlimited

Truely’s current plan-details panel says:

  • up to 5 GB with no speed cap;
  • after 5 GB, unlimited use at 512 Kbps.

The data connection continues after the threshold, but 512 Kbps changes what is comfortable. Messages, email and basic maps should remain usable. Large downloads, high-resolution video and some video calls will be slow.

Five gigabytes is a substantial daily allowance for ordinary travel use. It is easier to reach when a laptop is connected by hotspot, cloud photo backup is running or several people are sharing one phone. Turning on Low Data Mode or Data Saver can prevent background activity from using the high-speed portion. The travel data-saver guide covers those settings.

Atli also sells unlimited plans, but the applicable high-speed terms are the ones shown for the destination in WhatsApp or Telegram. Do not transfer Truely’s 5 GB and 512 Kbps figures to an Atli plan.

Buying and installing the eSIM

Truely uses a conventional account and app. Choose the destination and plan on the website or in the app, then install the Switchless eSIM. Truely describes it as one profile for more than 190 countries, so it can stay on the phone for later trips.

Atli handles purchase, delivery and support inside WhatsApp and Telegram rather than a separate app or account.

The first Atli eSIM should also remain installed. Data plans expire; the profile does not. When you buy another plan, including one for a different supported destination, it is added to the same eSIM automatically. Turn it on and select it for mobile data when you arrive.

Install either eSIM before leaving home while reliable WiFi is available. First confirm that the phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. Airport WiFi is a poor place to discover that an installation code, account login or phone setting needs attention.

Switchless and network selection

Truely calls its reusable profile Switchless. It is designed to select from available partner networks without requiring the traveller to replace the eSIM or choose a carrier manually. Truely’s current US page lists T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon Wireless.

This is useful when one partner has a better signal in a particular area. It does not mean every network is available everywhere or that the phone will always have 5G. Local coverage, congestion, the device and the roaming agreement still affect the connection.

Atli also connects through local partner networks and normally uses automatic network selection. The practical difference is where the service is managed. Truely puts plans, installation and controls in its app. Atli keeps purchase and support in the same WhatsApp or Telegram conversation.

Hotspot and travelling as a group

Both services allow hotspot use. A laptop or another traveller’s phone can connect through the device carrying the eSIM. Shared traffic still counts toward a fixed allowance and can reach Truely’s unlimited high-speed threshold more quickly.

Truely has a useful group option in checkout. You can increase the number of travellers and buy several plans together. Each person still needs a compatible device and the correct eSIM setup; this is a group purchase rather than one phone magically connecting the whole party.

Atli plans are bought in the chat. For several travellers, buy the appropriate plan for each device. If the group only needs occasional access, one hotspot can work, but it creates a single point of failure and drains the host phone’s battery. The eSIM hotspot guide explains the setup and common data drains.

Phone numbers, calls and texts

Atli is data-only. On a dual-SIM phone, you can keep your primary SIM active for calls and texts while Atli handles mobile data. Turn off data roaming on your primary SIM to avoid unintended roaming data charges. If your carrier supports roaming, verification texts can still arrive on your primary SIM. Messaging and VoIP apps like WhatsApp, Telegram and FaceTime work over the Atli data connection.

Truely’s products in this comparison are travel data plans. They are not presented as a replacement mobile number for cellular calls and SMS. Use internet calling apps or keep the home SIM active for its existing number.

With either eSIM, the home carrier may charge for calls, sent texts or other roaming activity on the home line. Turn off data roaming for that line if the travel eSIM should handle mobile data.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Atli when the matched plan price is the deciding factor. It costs less on every fixed and unlimited comparison above, and it suits travellers who prefer to buy and get support through WhatsApp or Telegram.

Choose Truely when its app, Switchless network selection or group checkout solves a specific problem for the trip. Its 300 MB plan is also useful when a full gigabyte would be unnecessary.

Whichever you choose, install the profile before travel, keep it after the plan expires and read the speed and validity terms shown at checkout.
