Atli costs less on every matched unlimited plan checked for this comparison. It also sells fixed plans from 1 GB to 20 GB, which can cut the price further if you do not need unlimited data. Holafly lets you choose an exact trip length from 1 to 90 days and includes 1 GB of backup data each month after installation. The better choice depends on how much data you use and whether hotspot sharing matters.

Price comparison

These prices were checked in US dollars on August 31, 2026. The first table compares unlimited plans for the same destination and number of days.

Japan, 15 days$41.99$50.50$8.51
Japan, 30 days$67.99$73.90$5.91

Atli is cheaper in all eight matched rows. The difference ranges from $5.91 for 30 days in Japan to $14.51 for 15 days in Turkey. Holafly’s price is the same for these destinations at each duration, while Atli’s price changes by country.

The larger difference appears when unlimited data is unnecessary. Here are the 30-day fixed plans from Atli beside Holafly’s 30-day unlimited price. These are not identical products, but they are the choices a traveller sees when deciding what to buy.

If maps, messages, ride-hailing and occasional social media are your main uses, a fixed plan may be enough. Someone working from a phone, uploading video or streaming every day may prefer unlimited. Our guide to how much data you need for a trip gives practical estimates by activity.

Holafly’s current prices can be checked on its official USA, Turkey and Europe pages. Both companies can change prices, so check the checkout total before paying.

What Holafly unlimited data includes

Holafly’s destination eSIMs have no fixed data allowance on the phone. That does not guarantee full speed at every level of use. Its official guidance says a local network may apply a fair-use policy after heavy consumption. A temporary speed reduction can last for up to one day, then reset the following day.

Hotspot data is separate. Holafly tells customers to check the destination page because the sharing allowance varies. The current USA and Europe pages allow 1 GB of hotspot data per day. A seven-day plan therefore includes 7 GB that can be shared, but no more than 1 GB on a given day.

That distinction matters if a laptop is part of the trip. One gigabyte can cover email and ordinary web work, but video calls, cloud backups and large downloads can use it quickly. With Atli, hotspot use comes from the plan’s data allowance and has no separate daily fee. A laptop will still spend the allowance faster than a phone. The travel eSIM hotspot guide explains the setup and common limits.

Holafly also includes Always On with current trip eSIMs. It supplies 1 GB of backup data every 30 days in more than 150 supported countries as long as the eSIM stays installed. The data does not roll over, and it cannot be shared by hotspot. This is useful for a message or map between paid trips, but it is not a replacement for the unlimited plan you bought for the destination.

Coverage and multi-country travel

Both companies sell local, regional and global options across more than 200 destinations. A destination count does not tell you whether a particular route is covered, so check the list rather than relying on the headline number.

Europe shows why. Holafly’s current Europe eSIM covers 33 countries and includes unlimited data. Atli’s Europe plan covers 34 countries and offers fixed and unlimited options. Fixed plans include 1 GB for 7 days at $4.99, 10 GB for 30 days at $32.99 and 20 GB for 30 days at $36.99. Unlimited costs $37.99 for 15 days or $70.99 for 30 days, compared with $50.50 and $73.90 at Holafly. The country lists are not identical, so those prices do not describe the same coverage.

Holafly is convenient if you want unlimited data across its covered countries and need an unusual trip length, such as 12 or 23 days. Atli suits a route covered by its bundle when you would rather pay for a known allowance. Read the regional eSIM guide before buying one plan for several borders.

Buying and installing

Holafly uses a web checkout. Choose the destination and number of days, pay, then receive installation details by email. The app is optional and can manage purchases or guide installation. Depending on the phone, you can install automatically, scan a QR code or enter the details manually.

Atli handles purchase, delivery and support inside WhatsApp and Telegram rather than a separate app or account.

Install either eSIM before travel while you have reliable WiFi. First confirm that the phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. Leave the travel line off until you arrive at your destination, then turn it on, select it for mobile data and enable data roaming for that line.

Atli customers need one eSIM profile. Keep it on the phone after the data plan expires. A later purchase is added to the same eSIM automatically, so there is no second profile to install. Holafly also tells customers to keep its current eSIM installed because deleting it removes access to Always On and an installed profile may not be recoverable.

Phone numbers, calls and texts

Trip eSIMs from both Atli and Holafly are data-only. On a dual-SIM phone, you can keep your primary SIM active for calls and texts while using the travel eSIM for mobile data. Turn off data roaming on your primary SIM to avoid unintended roaming data charges. If your carrier supports roaming, verification texts can still arrive on your primary SIM. Messaging and calling apps like WhatsApp, Telegram and FaceTime work over the travel data connection.

Holafly also sells a separate monthly subscription service with different data, hotspot and phone-number terms. Do not assume those features are included with a destination eSIM bought for a set number of days.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Atli if price is the main consideration, if a fixed allowance will cover the trip, or if you want to buy and get support inside WhatsApp or Telegram. It also makes sense for repeat use because new plans go onto the same eSIM profile.

Choose Holafly if you want unlimited phone data for an exact number of days, prefer its website and optional app, or value the 1 GB monthly Always On backup. Check the destination page before relying on hotspot because sharing limits vary.

For the USA, Turkey and Japan examples above, Atli is cheaper on matched unlimited plans and much cheaper when 10 GB or 20 GB is enough. Holafly’s main advantage is not the price. It is the ability to choose almost any trip length without estimating phone data first.

FAQ

Is Atli cheaper than Holafly?
Atli is cheaper on all eight matched unlimited plans in this comparison. It also offers lower-cost fixed plans when you do not need unlimited data. For example, 20 GB for 30 days costs $19.99 in Turkey with Atli, while Holafly’s 30-day unlimited plan costs $73.90.
Is Holafly really unlimited?
Holafly’s destination plans do not have a fixed data allowance for use on the phone. Local networks may temporarily reduce speed under a fair-use policy after heavy use. Holafly says any such reduction lasts no more than one day.
Which is better for hotspot use?
Hotspot use comes from the same Atli plan data rather than a separate daily tethering allowance. Holafly limits hotspot sharing by destination, currently capping sharing at 1 GB per day on its USA and Europe plans.
Do Atli or Holafly trip eSIMs include calls and SMS?
Trip eSIMs from both services are data-only. On a dual-SIM phone, you can keep your primary SIM active for calls and texts while using the travel eSIM for mobile data.
Do I need to install a new eSIM for another Atli plan?
No. Keep the Atli eSIM installed after a plan expires. When you buy another plan, it is added to the same eSIM automatically.
